Observable posture and biomechanics provide invaluable insight into how canine patients move, compensate, and experience pain or dysfunction. This presentation explores the integration of postural assessment, gait evaluation, and biomechanical principles into the examination and treatment of the canine acupuncture patient. Attendees will learn to recognize common patterns of asymmetry, altered weight distribution, restricted movement, and compensatory muscle tension and to relate these findings to functional anatomy and acupuncture points and patterns. Practical strategies for selecting acupuncture points, monitoring treatment response, and developing individualized treatment plans will be discussed. By incorporating posture and biomechanics into the traditional examination, practitioners can improve clinical reasoning, identify contributing factors, and provide more targeted care for canine patients with pain, mobility limitations, and performance concerns.
